“Shadow and Light, an Alzheimer’s Journey” by Northwest composer, Joan Szymko is an important and compassionate look into lives touched by Alzheimer’s disease. Szymko’s work for choir, solo voices and orchestra is an “expression of the enduring love that prevails when all else — all words, all memory, all physical function — fails.”

“One of the most memorable and overwhelming concerts in my 20 years of attending ORS concerts.”
“It was personal for me and there was hardly a dry eye in the house. The subject matter was beautifully put to words and music. I hope the program and music receive the attention it deserves with future performances.”
“Most beautiful and moving concert we’ve ever attended. It was beyond excellent.”
“Thank you ORS for taking up the challenge to put on this amazing work – giving voice to the unacknowledged experience of so many so far, and so many to come.”
